“Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed just make your absence felt.” – Unknown
Too many of us live for others. Too many of us wake up each morning hoping to impress other people and we don’t care enough about impressing ourselves. We want others to give us credit, thank us, pat us on the back, and compliment us. However, we fail to consider that we are dealing with human beings and that human beings can be extremely disappointing. If we go forward in life with the expectation of being genuinely appreciated in every circumstance, we will go forward with being hurt all too often and we will lose our sense of direction.
Live your life for a cause and be passionate in everything that you do. If you can do this, you will always feel content in your own heart and the actions of others will not dictate your happiness or enthusiasm. Secondly, you should aim to express yourself, rather than impress others. You can’t please everyone and you can’t impress them all. However, if you wake up each morning with the intent of being yourself and being yourself to the very fullest, then you will always go to sleep each night understanding and being proud of the fact that you were true to yourself. Lastly, proceed as the type of individual that leads by example and makes every place that you go better. However, be the type of individual that isn’t fully appreciated until you are no longer there. Have your absence be felt. Create an energy of positivity that will be missed. Create a legacy!
